Often, I say I like/hate something just because everyone around me likes/hates it; just to "fit in" socially... Everyone does that. The compelling reason for this post is that I recently found myself in such a situation and felt awful that I lacked the courage to be frank. Here goes...
(1) Shaan is a terrible singer and Tanha Dil is an ordinary song
(2) "The Shawshank Redemption" is not a great movie
(3) Black, Rang De Basanti, Slumdog Millionaire, (many more, this is all I can remember right now) sucked
(4) Other than Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe of Friends) and Kajol, most women cannot do comedy
(5) Ricky Ponting should break all of Sachin's records
(6) MS Office is the coolest piece of software written; Windows is cool and so is Bill Gates - This is taboo, coming from a CS guy. You are trained and brainwashed to hate windows and everything related to it
(7) Richard Stallman's rants are unbecoming of someone of his stature
(8) George W Bush and Manmohan Singh are cute
(9) Irrfan Khan is not a great actor
(10) Russel Peters is not funny
(11) Harsha Bhogle is neither smart nor insightful.
(12) Black Forest cake sucks
(13) The Backstreet Boys are awesome
(14) Rock (music) sucks
(15) It is hard to decide which among twitter and facebook is more lame

@jayaprakash: I just like how it is robust. I mean people simply says it crashes, but not in my experience. In my experience, ubuntu hangs more often than xp or vista.

@Abhi: Yes, Black and the other thingys suck. Russel Peters rocks! I don't have a clue about Sachin Tendulkar or the other chappie. The Man man is cute, yes, not the guy in the Bush.
@Abhi: WinDOZE sucks in its extensibility and manipulatibililty (yes, I said it) but it's built very robustly and is idiot-proof (I always thought that word was to prove the existence of idiots! :) and basically all h/w or s/w _works_ unlike in Tux. Tux is like a fun experiment to play around with, though.

@Arun(Comment 2): I am not saying windows is great for everything. I am just saying I do not "hate" it. It is taboo to say anything complimentary about windows in a geek group, and I wonder why I am always in one such! I was venting those feelings out here.

Agree with most, but most vehemently with the view on black forest cake. Yuck, yuck, yuck.
meaning i hope u dont hate the stuff just cos the "herd" likes it .i hope u have experienced rock music with lyrics and a good quality sound system and then concluded it sucks..
i hope u have followed sachin's career closely and by u r judgement ponting's the better guy ..
hope u have watched BLACK alone , Shawshank with subtitles ... and so r saying its not gr8...

@Frisco: hehe. Rest assured it is not because I am anti-populist. It is possible that I did not like the movies because of too high expectations. For example, people praised Black so much that I expected it would blow me off, and it did not; adikke dissapointed.

@Frisco: And yes, it is not because I want to be "different" from people. In fact, I have tried hard (cannot prove it to you, you will have to believe me) at convincing myself that the people are right. I have failed. I shall quote you "wat u like is all up to u man" :)
